Veg*nism

Eating meat, fish and dairy causes immense suffering to billions of animals across the world.  The average meat eater consumes over 2,000 animals in their lifetimes (not including fish).  The quickest and simplest way to reduce this suffering, and make sure your money isn't funding it, is to go vegetarian or vegan.  A vegetarian or vegan diet is also healthy, environmentally friendly and can be just as tasty (if not more so) than eating meat.

Foie-Gras

This "delicacy" which involved force-feeding of ducks and incomprehensible cruelty cannot be produced in this country. Yet the Chester gGrosvenor continue to serve it. They have taken it off their main menu, but it is still on their "Sample Gastronomic" menu.

We are campaigning to get the Grosvenor to stop serving this, by handing out leaflets about foie-gras outside the Grosvenor and asking members of the public to sign postcards against foie-gras or contacting the Grosvenor themselves. Their website is www.chestergrosvenor.com

Capricorn Animal Rescue

Capricorn Animal Rescue is a wonderful animal rescue centre based in Mold, North Wales.

Capricorn take in all kinds of animals; many abandoned, mistreated or unwell. The utmost care and attention are give to all animals so that they can be rehomed and lead happy lives

Though, of course, all this work costs money, and as such there is always a desperate need for donations. Please, give a donation or become a supporter today. There are charity shops based in the area so items are always needed for resale. Or come down and help- there is always plenty to do and you will be made to feel very welcome!

At CAPAS we try to raise money for this invaluable rescue centre. They desperately need new premises so are now in more need of donations than ever.

You can visit their website at www.capricornrescue.org/ or contact us to find out more about how to help.

Fur

The majority of people in the UK are now opposed to fur. We have no need for it; its production involves completely unnecessary pain and suffering of animals; people do not want it. Yet still, there are shops in Chester who sell it. Click here for more info.

We aim to  expose these shops, encourage them to go fur-free and to educate those who still buy fur products on the cruelty they are supporting.
